Caffé Palermo

We were on a mission for the best cannoli in Little Italy. My friends and I ate brunch at Freeman’s, walked around the Soho shops, and were now ready for some dessert. One of them had been craving a cannoli, and I figured there was bound to be some amazing ones in Little Italy. After a little googling, Caffé Palermo kept coming up as the neighborhood’s best. We found our way to the corner it was supposed to be on…now which one was it…oh, maybe the place with the giant plastic cannoli out in front?!

IMG_5639Caffé Palermo has been around for over 41 years and boasts that it’s the #1 Cannoli King and sells the best cannoli money can buy. And it doesn’t come cheap! One cannoli costs $5, and remember there’s a $10 credit card minimum.

I ordered a plain cannoli (you can also get chocolate-covered) and a chai tea latte, which was served in a cute glass mug. The cannoli was delicious, but I’ll admit that I don’t know if I would come here and pay five bucks every time I wanted one. If you’re in the area and want to get one to complete your Little Italy experience, then by all means, pop on in.

A nice plus about our experience was how friendly and attentive the staff was. The restaurant is a bit cramped with lots of tables and chairs all close together, and on the weekend I went, it was packed. A waitress quickly found a spot for us to sit and made sure we had everything we needed with a smile on her face. That being said, Caffé Palermo definitely comes off as a place where you eat quickly and leave or where tourists go when they need to sit down and take a break for a little, rather than somewhere you can really unwind and enjoy your pastry and coffee.

And guys…there’s another giant plastic cannoli inside too. Photo op!
