Dairy free + gluten free + vegan + kosher + fat free + sodium free + cholesterol free = soft serve? At Chloe’s, that statement is true.
Three friends got together to create Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co., “the cool way to eat fruit,” from the belief that real food should be simple. Each of their soft serve flavors has just three ingredients: fruit, water, and a little bit of organic cane sugar. That means there are a lot of things that AREN’T in the food like high fructose corn syrup, artificial coloring, and major allergens.
You know how it’s been a pretty big trend lately to make Paleo ice cream with things like coconut milk and frozen bananas so people can get their ice cream fix without all the “bad” stuff? Well that’s basically what Chloe’s has been doing with their unique frozen treat that looks and tastes just like normal soft serve ice cream or sorbet but is made primarily from the fruit itself!
Some of the flavors you can get are apple, blood orange, cantaloupe, pineapple, plum, and raspberry. I went with mango. All the health stuff being said, after you pick your flavor and size, you can still go wild with toppings here just like at other fro-yo places. I do appreciate how they lean towards the more health-conscious side though in keeping with their brand (no gummy bears here) and that they have some interesting options that aren’t otherwise widely available like the two I picked–chocolate covered chia seeds and yogurt covered pomegranate seeds.
I was prepared for something to be completely off about the texture or flavor of my soft serve because of the minimal ingredients, but it turns out there was no need to worry at all. It was just as delicious and satisfying as any other soft serve I’ve had, and it really made me wish the toppings I got were offered at other frozen yogurt places because they were the bomb.
Besides the soft serve, you can also order fruit pops here in many of the same flavors. If I remember correctly, you can even get them dipped in chocolate or peanut butter to make them a really special treat.
I ate at Chloe’s during the middle of an East Coast winter and still thought it was incredibly refreshing, so let’s see how many times I stop by in the heat of summer. The best part is, I don’t have to feel guilty about it at all.
