Dylan’s Candy Bar

IMG_7057Now I know I compared Max Brenner to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but Dylan’s Candy Bar is REALLY like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. You know, when they’re in the candy parts not the chocolate parts. Whatever. It’s a candy paradise.IMG_7058

The “Dylan” in “Dylan’s Candy Bar” is actually for Dylan Lauren, the daughter of Ralph Lauren, who started the company/store. The website claims it’s “the world’s largest confectionery emporium,” and there’s no way I can verify that, but what I can tell you is that it’s three floors of sweet goodness. I actually ventured into Dylan’s on the way to the Sprinkles cupcake ATM oddly enough. When I popped out of the subway with my roommate, I was standing right in front of this candy store. And then with some really quick reasoning I thought, “Oh, we have time to kill until my friend gets here” and “I’ve been wanting to check this place out anyways.” So, nope, I didn’t care at all that I was going to get some candy before my cupcake, which I was already planning on getting before dinner. Does it really matter what order you eat these things when you know you’re going to eat them all anyways?

When you enter Dylan’s, you’re on a floor with all the colorful candy dispensers and bins for you to scoop in your plastic baggies. Back in Houston, going to the candy store and picking my favorite sweets to put in my own personal little bag was my favorite part of every trip to the mall when I was little, so it felt a little nostalgic doing it again. There were sections for chocolate, licorice, sours, hard candies, every kind you could want! Before going crazy, we wanted to see what the rest of the place was all about, so we headed downstairs where they sell yes, still more candy, but also tons of candy-related merchandise like pillows, key chains, shirts, and toys. Another cool thing about the basement level is that they have a wall of celebrities’ favorites, so there’s a little sampling of candy and the name of the star who picked it underneath it. Then we went toIMG_7064 the second level, which is where you can buy treats to eat inside like cupcakes, sundaes, and milkshakes. They also have these super cute cupcake tables, which kind of make me want to go back just so I can sit and eat in them.

So overall, Dylan’s Candy Bar is a really fun place to go to satisfy your sweet tooth. I mean if it doesn’t get satisfied here then you might have a problem.
